（已翻译，英文原文附在结尾）长话短说，因为这个问题可能我这个外国人不该插嘴。但是，我的确有些话想说，因为我对于这件事有着强烈的感觉。
大多数看过我以前的答案的朋友可能知道，我是一个美国人，也知道我很喜欢中国，中国的文化、历史、旅游和中国人。无论这些中国人是生活在中国还是美国，我都很喜欢他们。所以，我当然要谴责这些针对芮美的没有素质的美国评论。当然，这些人的态度不能代表全体美国人的态度。如果你认为他们的态度代表了全体美国人对中国人的态度，那么你就错了，你只是在为这件事生气而已。
但是我也理解，就像很多人在中国的飞机上把我推开争着先下飞机，对在他们前边的人毫不在意一样，这件事绝对不是什么好事。当我被挤在中间，尝试跟他们说话的时候，他们会转过身来，吼一些我听不懂的话，然后空服人员不得不给我进行并没有什么卵用的翻译。他们说的是一些针对外国白人的诋毁性语言，种族色彩非常浓重。但是，我就因此责怪整个中国和所有中国人吗？并不，他们踩到了一个我的包，里边装满了带给中国朋友和商业伙伴的礼物，这么好的东西都被踩坏了。我就因此责备中国人了吗？没有。飞机上并没有任何一个人道歉，也没有人帮助我，我就因此责备他们了吗？不可能的事。
可能有人说，我的这些经历，都是美国人为自己所做的事而遭的报应。但是，我知道大部分美国人是非常喜欢中国人到美国旅行、定居的。中国人在美国也取得了很大的成功。如果所有的美国人都对中国人抱着种族歧视，那么就不会有这么多中国人的成功。这个命题本来就是假的。
美国人将从越来越多的中国人那里得到好处。我可以预测，十年后，加州和纽约的中国春节会和美国圣诞节一样隆重。无论那些飞机上的傻瓜说什么，都不能改变这个事实：中国人让美国变成一个更加强大、富裕、有趣的地方。
I’ll keep this one short, because maybe this is a question only Chinese people should debate among themselves. But, I wanted to say something because I really feel strongly about the issue.
Most all of those here who have read my previous answers know I am an American. They also know I love China, Chinese culture, history, travel and Chinese people. I love Chinese people whether they are in China or in the US. So, obviously I am going to condemn the ugly remarks made by some Americans on a plane directed toward Ms. Rui Mei. It should be obvious that they cannot be taken as representative of the attitude of all Americans. If you think that it is true that they do represent American opinion toward Chinese, you can’t be serious. You’re just mad about it.
But, I understand. It definitely was not cool. Just as it was not cool for the Chinese people who knocked me down on a plane in China trying to get off the plane first, not caring about others in front of them. When I said something to them, stuck up for myself, they turned on me and shouted a lot of things the helpless flight attendant had to translate for me later. Interesting slurs about being some ugly white foreigner. Very racist. Did I blame the Chinese people and China? No. They stepped on a bag full of gifts for my Chinese friends and business associates. Some nice items were broken and damaged. Did I blame the Chinese people and China? No.
Nobody on the plane apologized to me or helped me. Do I blame the Chinese people? No way.
Maybe someone could say this was all just payback for things Americans have done to them. But, I know the vast majority of people in America very much enjoy Chinese visitors and those who have and will come permanently. Chinese people are very successful in America. That would not be as easy for them if it were true that all Americans are racist against Chinese. It simply isn’t true.
America will benefit from more and more Chinese. I predict in 10 years Chinese New Year will be as big a celebration in California and New York as Christmas. Chinese people make America a stronger, richer, more interesting place, despite what a few idiots on a plane say. |
